International Day Of Solidarity With The Palestinian People Commemorated In Ankara

“Annual International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is an opportunity to reflect on the critical situation faced by the Palestinian people and to consider our collective contributions and responsibilities towards Israeli-Palestinian peace”, said United Nations Resident Coordinator Alvaro Rodriguez at the event organized for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Ankara on 29 November.

Rodriguez reading UN Secretary General António Guterres’s message for the day at the event co-organized by Turkish government, UN Türkiye, Embassy of Palestine and the Arab League Representation in Ankara, said “Together, let us reaffirm our support to the Palestinian people in their quest to achieve their inalienable rights and build a future of peace, justice, security, and dignity for all”.

Rodriguez continued to read the Secretary General’s message which said, “The United Nations’ position is clear: peace must advance – the occupation must end. We are steadfast in our commitment to realize the vision of two States – Israel and Palestine – living side by side in peace and security, with Jerusalem as the capital of both States”.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez, Ambassador of Palestine to Türkiye, Dr. Faed Mustafa, Representative of the League of Arap States to Türkiye, Ambassador Faleh Majed Almutairi, HÜDA PAR Chairperson Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, HAK-İŞ President Mahmut Arslan and several representatives of diplomatic corps and political parties and invitees attended the event organized at the Yaşar Kemal Culture Center.

In his speech, Minister Dönmez said, “I would like to emphasize that we are ready to contribute to the solution of the problems experienced by our Palestinian brothers in energy, which is one of the most basic needs, and to develop our cooperation with Palestine in all dimensions of the energy sector, especially electricity.”

Minister Dönmez also emphasized that Türkiye’s support for the Palestinian cause will continue with determination.

Palestinian Ambassador Mustafa thanked Türkiye for unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and independence.
