You have everything covered to get internet access- modem and router are in position, the cable is connected to the device, your device is perfectly capable of transmitting Wi-Fi data- and yet for some reason, there is no internet. From the settings menu of your computer or laptop, you find out that the network cannot identify Ethernet and you do not know what to do. Yes, it is an annoying and frustrating matter too. Don’t sweat; I am here to help you regarding this Ethernet unidentified network issue. We will learn about the root cause of this problem before finding probable solutions. Let’s start!

Ethernet Unidentified Network: No Internet – What Are the Causes and What to Do?
Several causes can be responsible for your device’s network system being unable to connect to the internet. It can be hardware or software-related problems, wrong settings, or a matter of outdated resources. The following reasons should be primarily seen as the culprits for Ethernet unidentified network issue-

1. Turning on airplane mode.

2. Wrong IP configuration settings.

3. Outdated network adapter.

4. Outdated Windows.

5. Security system blocking data flow.

6. Incorrect network settings, etc.

You have got to check out all the potential causes to pinpoint the exact one. As the problem varies from computer to computer, it will not be the same as others.

Ethernet Unidentified Network: No Internet: What are the fixes?
Although it may seem silly, many make mistakes by turning on airplane mode without knowing and looking for fixes that are not required at all. So, make sure that you do not make such mistakes. Additionally, check if the cable to the router is okay and all the concerned devices are up and running. Considering everything is in the right place and still, there is no internet, continue to read to find out the fixes for this difficult problem.

Method 1: Reset the IP configuration
IP (Internet Protocol) address is very crucial when it comes to computer networking. The IP address is assigned when your device is connected to a network. Incorrect IP addresses can be the main reason for faulty internet connection. How to reset the IP configuration and which IP configuration to choose? Follow these steps to learn-

Step 1: Search for ‘Command Prompt’ for the Windows search bar and run it as administrator.

Step 2: Type in the text exactly as it goes like- ‘netsh winsock reset’ and hit the enter button.

Step 3: Again, type in ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ and press the enter key.

Step 4: Type ‘ipconfig /renew’ before pressing the enter key. Close the command prompt and restart the device. This is how the IP address of your device will be reset.

However, some complain that this method does not work, and the command prompt says the process is not successful. In that case, follow this method.

Open the command prompt window as I mentioned earlier. Type in ‘netsh int ip reset’ and press the enter button. This time there should not be any problem in resetting the IP configuration.

Method 2: Set up the Ip Configuration Manually
Network, in most cases, automatically assigns the IP address which is not the case when an error occurs. Now, it is up to you to set up the IP configuration manually. Let’s find out how to do it.

Step 1: Right-click on the Ethernet icon or Wi-Fi icon that can be found on the bottom-right corner of the screen and tap on the ‘Open Network and Internet settings’ option. You can do it by clicking on the geared icon settings menu too.

Step 2: Under the ‘Ethernet’ tab, click on the ‘Change adapter options’.

Step 3: Right-click on the ‘Ethernet’ and select the ‘Properties’ option from the drag-down menu.

Step 4: Make sure that everything is right-checked except the Microsoft Multiplexer Protocol. Now, tap on the ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ option

Step 5: Click on the ‘Use the following IP address’ so that you can manually enter the IP configuration. The first three parts of the IP address are the same for all- 192.168.1 and enter the last digit as you wish. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0. Lastly, the default gateway varies from user to user- it is the IP address of your router. So, it will not be the same as the figure suggests. After you are done, hit the OK button and close the window.

Method 3: Uninstall and Reinstall Network Adapter
Your network adapter card may be corrupt which is feeding no internet access. So, you need to uninstall the software and then reinstall it to solve the problem.

Open device manager.

Under the ‘Network adapters’ option, right-click on your device’s adapter and select the ‘Uninstall device’.

Now, head to your motherboard’s website to find your device’s network adapter software. Once found, install it for the ethernet to be able to work again.

Method 4: Update Windows Regularly
The outdated Windows can create network issues. Update Windows by navigating- Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update.

Method 5: Troubleshoot Problems
Right-click on the Ethernet icon; and select the ‘troubleshoot problems’ option. If you are lucky, Windows will identify network-related problems and solve them automatically.

Method 6: Turn off Security Tools Temporarily
Often Windows firewall or anti-virus software that is installed on the computer causes data to stop flowing over the network. The security system may do it for safety but it can ruin your internet experience. That’s why turn off firewall and anti-virus software temporarily and see whether or not the network can identify Ethernet. You must turn it back on after the issue is fixed.

Conclusion
You have to try these methods one by one as you may not know the exact reason responsible for no internet problem in your computer. I am pretty sure the solution lies in one of the methods unless the device’s network is totally corrupted or hacked. Hopefully, you got the answer and Ethernet unidentified network is solved. Thank you for reading the article. Until next time, goodbye!
