How We Support Earth Day 2022

Today is Earth Day!
First held on April 22, 1970, Earth Day’s mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. EARTHDAY.ORG is the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement, working with more than 150,000 partners in over 192 countries to drive positive action for our planet.

At Impact Capital Partners
It’s our mission to make Earth Day every day by connecting institutional capital with sustainable investment strategies that address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. In an effort to leave the planet the same (or better) for our children, we continue to support programs that help move our carbon footprint to net zero (or even net POSITIVE).

There are many effective programs that you can consider to support Earth Day, but keep reading to see who we support…

Trees For The Future Partnership
Since 1989 Trees For The Future has planted over 180 million trees and gained experience in solving the problems people face to survive on degraded lands in more than 60 nations across Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Today, Trees for the Future is implementing the scalable and replicable Forest Garden Approach in a focused region to affect measurable change. Trees for the Future is working closely with farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa to establish Forest Gardens – planting 50+ species of trees, dozens of shrubs, fruit trees, and 12+ vegetables on a typical farm.

Since our launch, Impact Capital Partners has planted 24,000 trees withTrees.org. Read more about our Trees For The Future Partnership.

Seagrass Grow Partnership
SeaGrass Grow is the first and onlyblue carbon calculator – planting and protecting coastal wetlands to fight climate change. Since 2008, The Ocean Foundation has been involved in many coastal restoration projects and has widely promoted the concept of Blue Carbon — the capacity of the natural ecosystems of seagrasses, tidal marshes and mangroves to take up and sequester large quantities of carbon in both the plants themselves and the sediment below. Recognizing that this concept could help address and mitigate climate change while promoting ocean health, The Ocean Foundation has made an effort to protect and restore these coastal systems while investing in the science and viability of blue carbon. Through this innovative program, individuals or businesses can calculate the carbon footprint of their home, workplace or travel and offset it to restore and protect seagrass.

In 2021, Impact Capital Partners began utilizing The Ocean Foundation’s SeaGrass Grow Blue Carbon Calculator to offset our PROFESSIONAL footprint, and PERSONAL footprints too.
