Which Live TV Streaming Services Can I Use On PlayStation 4

Sony PlayStation 4 owners looking to stream live TV through their games console, have limited options. However, the choices they do have are pretty good and popular ones.

The PlayStation 4 does more than just play games, with the ability to stream video through apps a nice addition that removes the need to purchase a separate streaming player. Not only does that lower the cost in general, but also means PS4 owners can access all of their content through a single device and interface. However, that all relies on the various live TV apps having PlayStation 4 support in the first place, and up until now, that’s not really been the case.

While the PlayStation platform lacks a variety of live TV apps, that’s not necessarily the fault of the services. Instead, Sony previously looked to ensure that owners of a PlayStation 4 would use its own PlayStation Vue live TV service on the console. The problem is, that service closed down in January, leaving a gaping hole for those interested in streaming TV. However, since then, companies have been working to add support and some major ones already have.

Two Main Live TV Choices For PlayStation 4 Owners
Those looking to stream live TV through the PlayStation 4 do have limited options, but they are good ones. The first is Hulu + Live TV. This is actually the latest service to add PlayStation 4 support and that’s a big win for consumers, considering it is also currently the most popular live TV streaming service in the US. Hulu Live TV costs $54.99 per month, but has the added benefit of coming with the standard Hulu subscription. Therefore, existing standard Hulu subscribers can just upgrade their account through the website and only pay the difference. New subscribers can look forward to all of the live TV Hulu has to offer, along with access to its extensive catalog of subscription content, including Hulu Originals.

The only other option PlayStation 4 owners have is YouTube TV. However, this one also happens to be another extremely popular live TV service. In fact, YouTube TV is also the cheaper option (as long as you’re not also paying for standard Hulu) as it is currently priced at $49.99 per month. For that cost, users get all the access to the live TV and on-demand content YouTube has, as well as some additional perks. One of which is a customized and unlimited cloud DVR experience that also features added family member benefits. For example, YouTube TV lets subscribers share a single account with up to five other family members, and each of them can record as much content as they like, and have it stored in their own personal cloud DVR space.
