World Cup Alphonso Davies Pays Tribute To His Canada Teammates After Crashing Out At Group Stage

‘The future in this country is bright’: Alphonso Davies pays tribute to his Canada side and insists they will grow from their World Cup experience despite crashing out with three straight losses in Qatar
Canada star Alphonso Davies has paid an emotional tribute to his team after their World Cup campaign ended in three straight defeats on Thursday.

Canada lost against Belgium, Croatia and Morocco to crash out of its first World Cup since 1986.

But despite three losses Davies, who scored Canada’s only goal of the World Cup in the 4-1 defeat by Croatia, spoke encouragingly of what his team has learned.

Canada star Alphonso Davies paid an emotional tribute to his team after their World Cup exit In a Tweet, he talked about how proud he was of Canada in their first appearance in 36 years The Bayern Munich man said: ‘Very proud of this team for everything we’ve achieved together.

‘We didn’t get the results we wanted at the World Cup, but the future for football in this country is bright.

‘Thank you to all the travelling support for coming all the way to Qatar to support us every step of the way.’

Junior Hoilett, a Canada teammate of Davies, was in agreement.

Davies became the first man ever to score at the tournament in Les Rouges’ history Speaking after Thursday’s Morocco defeat, he said: ‘We showed throughout the tournament how much we fight to the very end.

‘Sometimes it’s so close from a result. We have to learn from this and move forward, never backwards.’

Canada is a co-host of the 2026 World Cup, alongside the United States and Mexico, so the pressure in four years will be greater to make it beyond the group stage.
